In January 1998, JAB concluded a Multilateral Recognition Agreement with sixteen bodies in fifteen countries (as of December 1999,with 25 bodies in 25 countries) in the framework of the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) regarding accreditation under the quality system registration scheme, which will contribute to enhancement of further acceptance in the international framework, of JAB's accreditation schemes and their results.

Furthermore, JAB succeeded in obtaining recognition by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) of the U.S. Department of Commerce as a laboratory accreditation body under the Fastener Quality Act, contributing to the establishment of infrastructure for exporting fasteners.
