Enterprise Asset Management System
A
Product Lifecycle Management System to manage industry compliance over
serial equipment and high-value assets in the: semiconductor, auto,
aerospace and defense, electronics and power generation equipment
industries.
SIMCOM's
proprietary Support
OEM™ System was designed for the
semiconductor industry after solicitation from Texas Instruments and Intel
Corporation. Four additional device makers and the eight largest equipment
manufacturers were added to an industry design group. Over a three-year
time period, SIMCOM collected industry requirements related to equipment
issues over the full lifecycle. The goal was to design, develop and
implement an industry-wide equipment tracking system. The net result was
Support OEM, representing
the industry's first-ever system constructed according to industry
consensus; to maintain lifecycle data on each installed serial tool in the
industry.
Tooling - The Semiconductor Industry's Largest
Cost
On average, wafer fabrication equipment comprises 75% of the total cost of a production "FAB", with current FAB costs at $3 billion. After FAB construction, the industry's primary economic driver is net product yield and production throughput. In combination, tooling represents the economic heart of the industry. For these reasons, device makers must assure fast equipment installation time - and then continuous "up-time" during production. 3PL service providers play a major role in each circumstance, while the industry imposes stringent requirements. Semiconductor Equipment Logistics Services - A Matter of Supply Chain Collaboration.Initial product launches and aftermarket services each require the coordination of multiple tasks across multiple locations. To complicate processes, non-tariff technical regulations are geographically based yet, must be oriented to each lifecycle task for each type of production tool. The best means to accurate support services is to begin data collection during the product's design phase and then maintain data collection until final product disposal. This involves active collaboration between equipment manufacturers, end users, third-party assessors and logistic service providers. SIMCOM's Support OEM provides the semiconductor industry with the first integrated BPM system to maintain lifecycle data integrity. Accurate scheduling for repair and maintenance tasks supports
a device maker's need to limit downtime - and equally supports the
information needs of logistics service providers to assure parts delivery
time requirements. Support OEM maintains a complete R&M history from
field technician input for each installed serial tool. Support OEM manages
other operational processes that affect parts and component movement
including: Product Safety Notices and User Incidents, where equipment
retrofitting processes are required to correct equipment
deficiencies.
Life Cycle Tasks Integrated via Support OEM™
þ Support OEM™ empowers an organization to make intelligent business decisions through efficient management of enterprise assets, including its products and equipment. þ Data is maintained during the asset's lifecycle and provides a world-class solution for capital equipment manufacturers and their end customers. þ The System was originally developed over a three-year period with design input from: Intel, Texas Instruments. Motorola, IBM, Applied Materials, Tokyo Electron, Nikon and International SemaTech in Austin, Texas. þ Data captures pertinent information including: Design Specs- Purchase Specs - Equipment Compliance Data - Installation Data - Repair & Maintenance Histories - Spare Parts Usage and Upgrades - Equipment Retrofits - Product Safety Notices - User Incident Reports and Hazardous Waste Governmental Reporting þ Manufacturers of capital equipment utilize the System to maintain global regulatory compliance data of all parts/components and finished goods inventory to disseminate to their end device manufacturing customers such as Intel, Texas Instruments, IBM, etc. þ Procurement specialists utilize the System to compare alternative supplier equipment, to manage purchase specifications, to manage order non-conformances and rely on the System to manage closure of all open tasks. Provides complete audit trail for vendor performance rankings. þ Field engineers utilize the System to view electrical schematics, user-manuals; part lists via Web browsers, while they may enter new data via wireless transmission. Scheduled Repairs and Maintenance is handled efficiently by the System, removing unwanted downtimes and providing accurate logistic information on a global basis.
